A Canadian boy. An island childhood.

Three years.
A lifetime of memories.

A tribute by Rob Trent

From September 1982 to July 1985, I traded a Canadian childhood for life at Marcopper, on Marinduque Island in the Philippines. I arrived at 12 and left at nearly 15, with three extraordinary years of memories to bring home.

While Dad worked at Marcopper, my two brothers and I had an amazing life in a tropical paradise of green hills, palm trees, and possibilities. It was a small chapter in time that still feels larger than life.

This site is my tribute to those years—the places, the photographs, and the memories. Keep checking back as I add more pictures and stories from a childhood I’ll never forget.
