The Golf Course at Marcopper

The nine-hole golf course at Marcopper was much more than a place to play a round. It became part of the rhythm of everyday life—a familiar landscape of fairways, coconut trees, water hazards, sand traps, and quiet paths winding through the community.

It was there that I first learned to play golf and gradually came to understand the patience, concentration, and persistence the game requires. Over time, every hole developed its own personality. The course became so familiar that its slopes, trees, ditches, and difficult shots felt almost like landmarks in a neighborhood.

Yet the importance of the golf course went well beyond the game itself. It offered hours of conversation, laughter, friendly competition, and time spent outdoors. Even the walk from one hole to the next was part of the experience. Looking back, the Marcopper golf course represents the freedom and unhurried pace of those years—a place where friendships grew, skills developed, and some of the simplest days became lasting memories.
